About the Collection
Art that testifies of God's goodness.
Radiant /ˈreɪdiənt/ adjective
Sending out light. Shining brightly. Glowing from within rather than reflecting light from somewhere else.
These children do not shine because of where they came from or what they have already survived. They shine because of who has been looking at them all along. Psalm 34:5 says those who look to Him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. These children did not choose to be seen. God chose to see them first, before a single circumstance of their lives had even unfolded. That is the light carried in every painting here, not a glow they had to find or earn for themselves, but the light of a Father who has never once looked away from the smallest and most vulnerable among us.
The Radiant Collection is a collaboration between Alabaster Box Gallery and Daybreak House for Vulnerable Babies. Each painting is an original work by artist Esté Jones, created from photographs of the children in our care. No faces. No identifying details. Only the tender truth of a little life held in God’s hands.
The stories of our children are their own, held in confidence and in prayer. What we can share, and what each painting proclaims, is that God is here. He sees. He holds. He is faithful.
Each painting is auctioned for one month. All proceeds go directly to the care of the babies and toddlers at Daybreak House for Vulnerable Babies.
How It Works

A painting is released
Este releases a new original painting each month, alongside her reflection on what God placed on her heart as she painted.

Register and place your bid
Create a free account on our site and place your bid. You will receive an email if you are outbid so you can choose to bid again.

The auction closes
After thirty days the auction closes. The highest bidder is notified and completes their payment securely through PayFast.

You become part of the story.
You take home an original painting and a piece of Este’s witness to God’s faithfulness. All proceeds go directly to the care of the babies at Daybreak House.

Behind every little life is a pair of hands that chose to show up.
This is the second painting in The Radiant Collection, a collaboration between Alabaster Box Gallery and Daybreak House for Vulnerable Babies. Each painting is an original work by artist Este Jones, inspired by the children in our care and the people who love them.
The Hands That Love was painted for Women’s Month. It shows Marlene, one of the mothers at Daybreak House, holding one of the first babies to come into our care in 2023. Her eyes are closed. Her cheek rests against his head. This is not a posed moment. It is simply what love looks like when nobody is watching.
Marlene stands here for all of them. Every mother, caregiver, volunteer, visitor and donor whose hands have fed, held, comforted, prayed and worked so that these babies would know they are loved.

A woman’s arms. A baby’s head resting against her shoulder. The second painting in The Radiant Collection is a tribute to every pair of hands that has ever held a Daybreak baby.
Not Anonymous
A blank line where a mother’s name should have been. A blank line where a father’s name should have been. And yet, on her birth certificate, one word was already written: Promise.
The Story of Promise
She had no inheritance, no status, nothing to offer but her own quiet existence. This is what Promise’s story teaches us about grace that isn’t earned.

A little girl seen from behind. Pink tutu, mini afro puffs, bare feet, a bouquet of proteas almost as big as she is. Este chose proteas on purpose. The flower needs fire before it can bloom.
She was known by her Creator before she was known by the world, and now she hangs on a wall as a reminder that God keeps His promises.
