We have all had those mornings. You are running late, the traffic is backed up, and just as you pull in, a prime parking spot opens up right at the front. You take a breath, slip into the space, and whisper: thank you for that grace.
But when you spend your days working with vulnerable little children, your heart learns that grace is so much bigger, deeper, and more beautiful than a bit of good traffic luck.
Running an NPC means we regularly find ourselves standing before mountains that feel entirely too big for us to climb. In this line of work, we are constantly reminded of our own smallness. The beautiful, humbling truth is that we stand completely empty-handed before God. We have absolutely nothing to offer Him in return for the miracles we need. We cannot buy His help, and we cannot earn it.
Yet, in our deepest moments of need, our living God never turns a blind eye. He never fails to see us, and He never fails to see these precious children.
We see His heart in the moments that leave us entirely breathless with gratitude. We see it in the perfect timing, when a little one under our care is incredibly sick and the exact medical help or support we desperately need appears at just the right moment. We see it in the unexplainable turnaround, when a child is fighting a severe illness and we watch them recover significantly within a mere 24 hours. And we see it in the provided breakthrough, when our bank accounts look stretched to the limit but suddenly the resources arrive to ensure every child is safe, fed, and loved.
These are our beautiful, tangible reminders that God is actively with us. It is a grace that originates entirely in His sovereign love, flowing straight from the cross where His justice and mercy meet.
Sometimes His grace looks like a miraculous path right through the sea. Other times His grace looks different from what we originally thought was best. But even when the answer is not what we expected, we are learning to trust His heart.
Because this is all a completely free gift, it keeps our hearts anchored in a very quiet, very deep gratitude. The moment we start thinking we deserve these breakthroughs, or that we have earned His favour through our hard work, it ceases to be grace. Staying small, staying humble, and remembering our total dependence on Him is the only way we can truly live in the warmth of His favour.
We bring our empty hands, and He fills them. We bring our weakness, and He brings His comfort. We are just so incredibly thankful that the One who parts the seas for His people is the very same God who watches over our little ones every single day.
But he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

Lord, keep us small. Keep us humble. Keep our hands open and our eyes fixed on You, the God who sees every child in our care and never once looks away. We bring You nothing, and You give us everything. Thank you. Amen.
